A drink made from the clear inner-leaf gel of the aloe vera plant (Aloe barbadensis), often diluted and lightly sweetened; food-grade products use decolorized, inner-leaf aloe. It carries plant polysaccharides and polyphenols.

Food-grade aloe drinks use decolorized, inner-leaf aloe. The yellow latex layer just under the leaf skin (found in whole-leaf, non-decolorized aloe) contains aloin, a bitter compound; choose inner-leaf / decolorized products and follow the label directions.
