- Vitamin K2 (menaquinone) is one of the two main forms of vitamin K, a fat-soluble vitamin the body uses for normal blood clotting and for maintaining bone. K2 is found in fermented foods such as natto and in some animal products.
- Low intake
- Low vitamin K status is commonly discussed in relation to easy bruising and longer bleeding times, and is more likely among people with fat-absorption problems.
- Higher intake
- Vitamin K has not been shown to cause harm and has no established upper level; a steady vitamin K intake is commonly discussed for people taking the anticoagulant warfarin.
