Oregano oil

A supplement made from the oil of oregano (Origanum vulgare or related species), rich in the volatile compounds carvacrol and thymol. Sold as softgels or as diluted liquid drops.

Worth knowing

Oregano oil is highly concentrated and can irritate the mouth, throat, or stomach; it is usually diluted before use, is best avoided during pregnancy, and may interact with anticoagulant (blood-thinning) medicines. Talk with a clinician before use.
